The forklift is a material handling machinery used to lift and transport loads from one place to another. Each forklift component has a specific function. Different components could be utilized to transport the load horizontally or vertically.

Mast
The parts utilized to lower and lift the load is known as the forklift mast. There are various kinds of masts utilized for lifting loads to different heights: simplex, duplex, triplex and quad.

Power Supply
There are four various ways you can power a forklift: electric, gas, diesel and propane. The battery is located in the cab beneath the seat. The propane tank is located on the back of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is beneath the rear of the truck.

Cab
The forklift cab is situated within the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The steering wheel, gas pedal, brake, lifting controls and tilting controls are all situated within the cab.

Frame
Carrying all the biggest forklift components is the truck frame. This consists of the counterweights located at the back that prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the driveshaft, axles and wheels.
